Thank You very much for this article.

I learned a lot of things I did not know about sweet Marilyn’s life.

Just, I would like to say that I think she was NOT a Notoriously Dishonest, Calculative Narcissist.

Joshua Logan, who directed the 1956 film Bus Stop, said she was the most Vulnerable & Honest actress he had ever worked with. Logan remarked that she was *not interested in mediocrity ~ she aspired to the best, even if it hurt her* & that her performance as Chérie allowed her to showcase a rare blend of Emotional Truth & Vulnerability. He praised her dedication & Truthful acting abilities.

John Huston (The Asphalt Jungle, The Misfits) described her acting as *All the Truth* & *Raw, Authentic & Deeply Moving*. John is credited with recognizing her *Raw Honesty & Lack of Guile as an actress ~ free from artificiality, cunning or calculated tricks.* Huston spoke about her in interviews, highlighting her ability to tap into her own personal experiences, noting that *It was all the Truth*. He said: *She went right down into her own personal experience for everything ... It was all the Truth*.

Robert Mitchum, her co-star in River of No Return (1954) reportedly described her as "The Most Honest person I ever met.*

Arthur Miller, her last husband & screenwriter of The Misfits, described her as *Without Guile* & *The Most Honest person* he had ever met, before later reflecting on her immense struggles.

Marilyn exhibited traits associated with Narcissism, such as a need for adoration, admiration, grandiosity & obsession with her image, but these were deeply intertwined with other severe personality issues, including Deep Depression ~ Bipolar Disorder, BPD ~ Borderline Personality Disorder & deep-seated insecurities, rather than a straightforward NPD ~ Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

She also was not a calculative, manipulative … woman (as K. Pasha said), since she did not calculatedly manipulate anyone ~ she was the one who was abused & calculatedly manipulated by many people & institutions.

People with NPD ~ Narcissistic Personality Disorder exhibit a serious lack of empathy, cold, calculative & manipulative behaviors to maintain their control, power & superiority over other people. They utilize tactics like gaslighting, guilt-tripping & exploiting others to gain power, control, or attention. Marilyn was not like that. In her last video we can clearly see how sweet, patient, agreeable she was & how TRULY she struggled with her mental health, emotional instability … Every time I watch it, I feel her deep, emotional, honest pain.

Marilyn was an honest & authentic lady, very similar to Princes Dianna. They both passed away at the age of 36 & both were loved by people very much probably because they were able to show to us both:

Honest Emotions, Compassion, Raw Vulnerability & Authentic Glamour.

Thank You.

Your comment about Marilyn being "notoriously dishonest" struck home for me. Reading many of her accounts -- especially in the "My Story" book by Ben Hecht -- it seems clear that Marilyn presented many things about herself and her life in a calculated way to fit into the image she had created. The stories she told later about Norma Jeane seem like an effort to rewrite her past in a way that Marilyn was the true persona and Norma Jeane was the fraud, when it is clearly the opposite. I find accounts by the people who knew Norma Jeane before "Marilyn" was created to be more believable than the imagined narrative presented by her stage persona.
