If we were to go back to the family house in Bromley, in 1964, we might find David with his girlfriend Dana Gillespie, introducing her to his parents. Dana is finding the house “unbelievably cold...[There is] no love in it”. When his parents leave the room, David turns to the 15-year-old and says, “whatever it takes, I’m going to get out of here… I’ve got to get out of here.”
